OLD COLLEGIANS RFC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 6th December 2002

 

Meeting opened 8.00pm

Present:.

Apologies: H. Cranna, P & J Alien, R Sadler, A Playford, M Von Berg, E Suttell, H Clark, M Lowe, R Burgess, D Watson, J Denley, T Seeker, H Klein-Smith, D McCartan, E Curran.
The President welcomed members to the meeting. He acknowledged the attendance of Geoff Holdich, President of SARU.

Minutes of previous AGM distributed. Moved: A Secker Seconded: N Bradley CARRIED.

President's Report: Ted Apted spoke to his written report. 2002 had been a successful year both on and off the field.  He thanked ail the teams from the Juniors through to Division 1,particularly the Crocs with their Premiership win. Thanks to Peter James for co-coordinating a 4th men's team enabling some new players and
the overflow from the Crocs to participate in the game of rugby. The achievement of
winning the West End Trophy was due to the hard work, commitment and co-ordination of all involved in the Club and Ted expressed thanks to all those involved.

The Presentation Dinner was held at the Clubrooms with thanks to Mickey Finn and other life members for ensuring that the finale event of the season was one to remember.

Ted thanked all those who have contributed towards the club throughout the season in various capacities, the Tregenza Times, the website, canteen, bar, buildings and grounds.

Ted talked about the crucial role of sponsorship for the club and thanked all the sponsors, in particular, Honeywell Air Cleaners, The Feathers Hotel, Coopers Brewery, Renniks Hire, Suzuki in the City and Direct Interiors.

Treasurer's Report: Gordon Hazzard talked to his Report with the Club reporting a profit of $2735 after allowing for accelerated depreciation on the building and plant and equipment.

The higher travel costs for players was due to the cost of flying players from interstate back to SA to participate in the final series. Insurance costs were higher this year in line with a national increase across the insurance sector generally.

Gordon thanked the Assistant treasurer, Bob Stafford-Lee and proposed that the financial statements be accepted. Seconded: S. Clark. CARRIED.

Reports- from Rugby Director, Registrar, Women's team and Junior Club were accepted by the meeting.

Neil Bradley spoke to his Rugby report thanking the coaches and managers for all their dedication and commitment throughout the season. The Club is now the largest senior club in the State with the SARU looking at introducing a Division IV into the competition.

Congratulations to the teams for making theGrand Final and with Division Ill "Crocs" for becoming Premiers.

Particular thanks to Michael Lowe and Kate Denley for their untiring effort each week in providing assistance and support for our teams.

The Women's team performed well under the guidance of their coach, Ray Butler. This year saw a new influx of younger and inexperienced players who demonstrated an excellent work ethic and commitment levels on a weekly basis at training and on the field.

Election of Life Members: There were no Life Membership nominations.

Any Other Business: Andrew Secker, on behalf of the Life Members, put
forward a proposal to broaden the criteria for Life Membership nominations.

After discussion amongst members it was agreed that as the proposal required an amendment to the Constitution and due notice must be given to all Club members, it could not be dealt with at this meeting.

It was moved that this amendment be presented to the new Committee and be an agenda item at the next Annual General Meeting.
