From the Tregenza Times of 21st June 1988:

"I've joined the 4ths at Western Suburbs. I went to the clubhouse to check it out on Thursday night. People were drunk, a fire was going, someone sang, a committee member was accused of stealing club property and everyone abused the selectors.

I felt totally at home and joined at once. The 4ths are a good team and have two rules endorsed by the club which could be a model for any club - you must be 32 or older to play and a player can't be selected for another team unless he expressly consents.

So far we're unbeaten except to Cottesloe, last year's premiers (60). I've only split my head once.

All the best for '88 to all teams and I hope to drop in sometime later in the season."
