Brian King

Brian played for Collegians' from 1949 to 1961 and was the club secretary in 1951.

Brian attended Unley High School until 1943 and then Prince Alfred College for 1944 & 1945. In the belief that schooling would be inevitably interrupted by a requirement for war service, Brian joined the school's Air Training Corps and was fortunate to be givenflying lessons on Tiger Moths.

In 1946, Brian's father "CL" had started a small travel agency handling reservations for Linnetts GuestHouse on Kangaroo Island. The business grew into Kangaroo Island Tourist Office, Pt Lincoln Tourist Office, Victor Harbor Tourist Office, and finally into King's Tourist Office. It was situated on the 7th. Floor of Edments Building inRundle Street and then moved into a basement office in King William Street. In 1963 King's Travel moved premises to a ground floor office at 26 Currie Street.

Brian married Sue Grove-Jones at St Theodore's Church of England at Rose Park in 1951. He had started playing Rugby so the wedding had to be at 5:00 pm to allow his rugby mates to finish their match, and be at the wedding.

Brian made many life long friends from Collegians such as John & Yvette Hirst and Peter & Joan Roper.

Brian won the "Most Improved Player" in 1953, and the "Best Player" for 1954.
