Ms Collegians 2002

The 2002 competitors were Ben Hamer, Shannon, Graham Raymond, David Watson, Nick Roberts, Nick Porter, Jesse James, Andrew Beare, and Ben Suttell.

We are slowly developing a tradition of a biennial 'beauty pageant' for our lads. This travesty is affectionately known as "Ms College".

The MC for the night was Hamish Cranna, assisted by the able Miss Brown, an ex drag-queen Joyce Spry met at the pub. And if you thought Hamish was a scene stealer - wait till you meet Brownie. Brownie seemed entranced by our lovely lads, and assures us that at least a couple of them could pursue a career in cross-dressing if their day-jobs don't work out.

The panel of judges, comprising Joyce Spry, Barry Nicholl and 2000's champion, Stewart Douglas, awarded the honour of being Ms College 2002 to Roman (aka David Watson). We have to suspect that the pouting, posing and prancing on Roman's part won it for him on the day.

Roman had been 'purchased' in the Calcutta by Tiana Hume, winning her $200, with which she promptly paid off her subs and bought a round for her team.

It was such a tight race for second and third that the judges couldn't separate Boof, Shannon and Beare. All three were declared joint runners up. Shannon won the crowd vote, narrowly edging out Roman. The lads put in a great effort in their wigs, heels, frocks and makeup. The finer details are best put behind us (which reminds me, you don't want to know what Boof put behind him). Stu Douglas happily passed his crown on to Roman, having laboured under the stigma for two years. Meanwhile, a certain disgruntled two-time competitor has been heard grumbling that the skinny, f**king wingers always win. Accordingly, there is now a move to introduce weight divisions into Ms College 2004.
